Social Skills Group

Social skills speech therapy groups are designed to develop and practice the skills needed to achieve positive social interactions that support peer relationships, family interactions, recreation and academic achievement. Social skills groups are individually designed, and peer matched, to allow each learner to practice their social communication in a supported environment. Our program is largely based on the Social Thinking® framework that teaches perspective taking and develops social cognition. We teach strategies to increase comfort in social situations, understanding of social rules, what is expected in certain situations, and how to communicate and connect with others.
