Neurodevelopmental disorders affect motor( movement ), cognitive( understanding), language, learning, and behavioural development with lifelong consequences. But Early identification of infants at risk for neurodevelopmental disorders is a major prerequisite for intervention programmes.
Early identification of infants at risk ofneurodevelopmental disorders can be done by Prechtl’s General Movement Assessment. In high-risk infants this assessment displays high sensitivity and specificity starting from the first months of life.
