Mercy
Mercy is a special needs Educator and Registered Behavior Technician who graduated in 2012 with a bachelor’s degree in Special needs education from the University of Buea with minors in Guidance counselling and History.
Having 6years of experience working with children of different ages and adults as well in the capacity of a teacher, therapist, and counsellor, she has hands-on experience in Teaching children with special needs especially those with autism who have problem behaviours, difficulty with communication, learning, and social skills.
She served as a special needs teacher for 2 years at a big school in Dubai for Autism where she worked with children having diverse needs. Using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis, she was able to correct problem behaviours, using other tools such as incidental teaching, errorless teaching, discrete trial teaching, she taught them daily living skills (ADL) which includes toileting, dressing and eating, vocational skills, and communication, using prologue for nonverbal students.
She also practised as a counsellor to parents with special needs children at St Puis Buea town, she encourages parents to work hand in hand with therapists and teachers to foster children learning. Apart from special needs, she also has 2 years of experience teaching mainstream where she taught history and English language at College Marie Albert Yaoundé.
